AWANA kids hear a Bible story
AWANA is a bible-based, Christ-centered program for children. The word AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and comes from 2 Timothy 2:15. The goal of AWANA is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve him.

AWANA clubs meet weekly on Wednesday nights, from September through May. We meet from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and serve
children in kindergarten through 8th grade.

There are three segments to the AWANA program:
  • Handbook Time: Kids have small group interaction that emphasizes memorizing and understanding the Bible.
  • Game Time: AWANA circle games get all the kids participating and having fun.
  • Council Time: Kids gather for singing, awards, announcements, and a practical Bible message.

AWANA Clubs at Blackhawk:

  • Sparks (K-2nd Grade)
  • Truth and Training (3rd-6th grade)
  • Junior Varsity and Varsity (Junior High and High School)

Kids also have fun with AWANA special events, like the Grand Prix and Christmas Store. Also watch the calendar for theme nights where kids can get points for dressing up in crazy ways.
