Membership at Blackhawk Church
“It’s more about growing than joining”

Blackhawk Church is full of people who enjoy the teaching, the music, or any of the other ministries that make the church a fun and beneficial place to attend. There are three groups that make up our community: visitors, regular attenders, and members. All are integral to our community. The difference between regular attenders and members can be summed up in one word: commitment. It's a bit like couples who just date, and those who get married. While becoming a Christian means committing oneself to Christ, becoming a member means committing oneself to other Christians. It is a commitment to a specific group of believers - to practice the "one-anothers" of the New Testament.

The membership process is designed to be a personally enriching step in your ongoing walk with Christ. If you have been at Blackhawk for over 6 months, have placed your faith in Christ, and have begun to get connected to our ministries to grow and serve, you might want to consider the commitment of membership.

Membership Process

• A pre-requisite to becoming a member is to attend Discovering Blackhawk. This is our 2 hour introduction to Blackhawk where you discover "why we do, what we do, the way we do it." It gives you a chance to meet Pastor Chris, hear his heart, and understand more about Blackhawk Church. These sessions are offered on Sunday evenings throughout the year. Call the church office for the schedule. No registration is required.
• The next step is to attend the Growing Together Membership Class. In the friendly setting of a small group, the prospective member studies Scripture as it relates to the characteristics of a growing disciple of Jesus Christ, and learns about the unique distinctives of Blackhawk Church.
• During the class you will complete the Membership Application.
• Finally, you will have an interview with an Elder and a member of the Connections Team. This is an opportunity to share your story of how you came to faith in Christ. The purpose of the interview is to affirm your commitment to Christ, to Blackhawk Church and to the process of personal spiritual growth, and to answer any questions you might have about Blackhawk.
