A Life Group serving
Life Groups also serve together

Connect to Others, Connect to the Word, Connect to the Community

We are convinced more than ever that the best place for spiritual growth is in a small group of caring people - what we refer to as a Life Group. In fact, it’s the best place for a lot of things: friendship building, encouragement, prayer, support and training just to name a few.

Interested in joining a Life Group?
Life Groups meet during the school year (September to May) and break for the summer months. At the end of August, groups will be starting back up for the year, and we’ll be hosting an event called GroupLink, where you’ll be able to join a group.

In the meantime, we hope you will join us for our Life Group Summer Series. The series is a chance to test drive a Life Group and to connect with others who are also interested in joining a group at Blackhawk. Keep reading for more info.

Life Group Summer Series

  • What: Casual. Laid back. A chance to meet new people. A taste of what you'll find in a traditional Life Group. That's the summer series.

For 4 weeks, we’ll gather in “Life Group sized” small groups of 8-12 people to get to know each other, eat great summer treats, and discuss a passage of the Bible. Don’t worry - this isn’t a test, and you don’t need to study in advance. The discussion will be a chance to ask questions, investigate, and talk about how to apply the Bible to our everyday lives. No matter where you’re at on your spiritual journey, you are welcome.

  • For Whom: Anyone is welcome, but the series is designed especially for those who have never been in a Life Group.

  • Dates: We’ll meet on four Mondays during the summer:
    June 22; June 29; August 3; August 10

  • Time and place: 7:00-8:30 each night in the Fireside Room (201)

  • Sign-Up: If you are interested in coming, please sign up here.

  • Other Info: If you aren’t able to attend all four nights, that’s okay! Although we encourage you to attend all four if possible, this is an informal setting, and we’d love to see you on the weeks that you are able to attend. You don’t need to bring anything with you. We’ll provide everything.

Ever thought about leading a Life Group?
Do you enjoy encouraging other people to take the next step on their spiritual journey? Do you want to be a part of building a community in a safe and friendly environment? If so, then leading a Life Group might be for you! Here are some of the qualities we look for in potential Life Group Leaders:

  • Openness to God. This involves being faithful, available, teachable and committed to personal spiritual growth.
  • A group facilitator. We ask leaders to guide, plan and lead the discussion, but we help by providing the weekly study guide and help notes for the leaders.
  • A shepherd. A leader should encourage, pray, listen and serve the group. A sucessful leader asks, "Are my group members well-cared for?"
  • A multiplier. Keeping an eye open for potential new leaders within a group is one way that Life Group Leaders help launch new groups within the church.
  • A Life Group Leader is not expected to be a teacher or Biblical scholar, a strong personality, the most popular person, or even an extrovert.

What should I do if I'm interested in leading a Life Group?

  1. Attend a Life Group Leader Informational Meeting (to see upcoming meeting dates, please click here).
  2. Prayerfully consider if this is where God wants you to serve.
  3. Fill out a Life Group Leader Application:
Life Group Leader Application (MS WORD - recommended).
    Life Group Leader Application (pdf).
  4. Someone from the Life Group Team will be in touch with you to discuss your application and determine if the role of Life Group Leader is a good fit for you.
