A Life Group

Some frequently asked questions about Life Groups at Blackhawk:

What is a Life Group?
A Life Group is a group of
8-12 people that meet regularly in homes for friendship, encouragement, Bible Study and prayer.

When and where do they meet?
Most Life Groups meet in homes Sunday through Thursday nights. There are however some groups that meet early mornings or on the weekends.

How long do they last and what is the commitment?
Life Groups generally last between 1½ - 2 hours and we ask you to commit to attending regularly for a season (for example the fall season).

What will we study?
Most of our groups will do sermon-based studies. Each week the bulletin will have an insert of questions to take the passage of scripture deeper with your group. This is used as a study guide and you are encouraged to bring this to your group each week.

How do I connect to a Life Group?

Our Life Groups break from meeting over the summer, and believe it or not, summer is just around the corner!

Because the time remaining before the summer break is so short, our Life Group Sign-Ups are currently closed. However, if you’re interested in groups at Blackhawk, we hope you will join us for our Life Group Summer Series. This will be a great chance to connect with others who are also interested in joining a Life Group at Blackhawk. Keep reading for more info on the Summer Series.

Life Group Summer Series

What: For 3 weeks this summer, we will be taking over the upstairs of Blackhawk to bring you the summer series. This is a casual setting where everyone attending will gather together to watch a 10-15 minute teaching video. After the video, we’ll break up into “Life Group sized” small groups of 8-12 people to ask questions and discuss the subject of the video.

We'll also be serving great summer “treats”. (It seems that good food is a Life Group staple.) No matter where you're at on your spiritual journey, you are welcome.

Dates: We’ll meet for three Tuesdays: June 17, June 24, July 1
Times: 7:00-8:30 each night

Other Info:

  • If you aren’t able to attend all 3 nights, that’s okay! This is an informal setting, and we’d love to see you on the weeks that you are able.
  • You don’t need to bring anything with you. We’ll provide everything here.

If you are interested in coming, please send your name and email to Carolyn Wyse. We'll email you with more details as the dates approach.

Can I bring my children to the group?
Life Groups are designed for adults. Some groups do however go together to share babysitting expenses. This is a decision for each group to make on their own where children are involved.

What kinds of Life Groups are there?
We have adult groups for men, women and mixed groups (couples, singles and a variety of ages). We also have Life Groups that are age specific for middle school, senior high and college students.

How do I become a Life Group leader?
Most of our leaders emerge from existing Life Groups. Talk with your Life Group leader about becoming an apprentice or contact Carmen Boyd for more information.

Study Guides
Our sermon-based Life Groups follow the sermon series with the help of study guides.

You can find study guides for the past year of sermons in the Sermon Library.
