JOURNEY CLASSES

An essential part of following Christ is opening our minds to new ways of seeing God, ourselves, and the world. Journey Classes are designed to help you take the next steps in exploring some of the most foundational topics of Christian life and faith.

Classes explore:

  • core issues related to being a follower and believer
    in Christ
  • biblical perspectives related to a certain life-stage or issue in our culture
  • what God is doing in our world, or inside ourselves.

Finding Your Niche

Have you ever wondered where you fit in the scheme of things; what special task you were created to do? "Finding Your Niche" might be one step in the process of understanding why God made you the way He did. Each class builds upon the last. Freed Up Financial Living

One crucial part of spiritual growth includes how we use our financial resources. At Blackhawk, we use a curriculum called Freed Up which outlines biblical principles for earning, giving, saving, spending and reducing debt. This seminar will be offered in two parts in April:

Part 1 – Sat April 10 8:30am-12:00pm (Room 162)

Part 2 – Sun April 11 4-7:30pm (Room 201)

You need to sign up for the class beforehand at the registration desk in the atrium or on the Blackhawk website in order to (1) receive your pre-work packet and (2) to place a $15 order for the workbook.

Discovering Grace

Here at Blackhawk we talk a lot about grace: God offers his love, grace, and redemption in Christ to us, no matter who we are, or what we’ve done. We believe grace is central to the message of the gospel, and we also believe that it is a central part of how we operate as a church community and as individuals. What does it look like to grasp God’s grace and respond to it? What does it mean to live in a community
of grace?

This one-hour course, taught by Tim Mackie, explores the importance and centrality of grace in the life of a Christ-follower. It is offered every couple of months. No registration is necessary. Anyone is welcome. Watch this page and the Sunday bulletins for upcoming dates.

Discovering the Bible

The Bible plays a very central role in the life of our community here at Blackhawk, but when most of us try to read the thing, major questions come up. Where did it come from? It’s gigantic, what’s it all about? Why do we care so much about what this ancient book has to say?

This one-hour course, taught by Tim Mackie, is designed to address these big-picture questions about the Bible. It is offered every couple of months. No registration is necessary. Anyone is welcome - no sign-up is needed. Watch this page and the Sunday bulletins for upcoming dates.

Parents, if you plan to stay for an extra hour to attend a class, please inform the Children’s Ministry welcome center, so they can check your child in for a second hour. You must pick up your child between services.
