God has touched many lives through the community of Blackhawk Church. This story is from Steve:
“My Christian friends had been trying to get me to come to church, and Christ, for years. Late last year, my beliefs began to change. I began seeking answers to questions about spiritual beliefs.
“The thought of looking for those answers at an evangelical church reminded me of the experience of being the new kid at school. Everybody would be looking at me, judging me, trying to find reasons to shun me. The gentle but relentless prodding of my friends finally helped me overcome my fear. I was surprised to find a very supportive, accepting community. Nobody judged me for my beliefs. Instead, they shared theirs. I didn't feel threatened. I came to look forward to every Sunday evening when Pastor Chris would teach us about the Bible and his beliefs.
“Pastor Chris' services are like being in school again. This time, the teacher is a really cool guy and the students come to school because they want to, not because they have to.
“Thank you Blackhawk! I hope you continue to find room in your hearts and church for those of us who are looking for answers to some of life's most important questions.”
This is Sarah’s story:
“My husband and I started to coming to Blackhawk soon after we were married. I had been attending another church in the area but my husband, who was not a Christian, was not too comfortable in it...so we began to search. We were both comfortable at Blackhawk and began attending regularly. We were impressed by how personal the church was. I was so glad that my husband wanted to attend services. I prayed for him all the time. Everyone was so accepting of where he was on his journey and that really touched us both. We went to the membership class to learn even more about the church. It was about this time, after 2 years of prayer, that Shane made the leap!
“The year before I had been at the Maundy Thursday service and a pastor prayed with me for Shane and his faith. He told me to keep praying and to keep being a light in Shane's life. Then he said- "Next year will be different". He was right! Being able to share my faith with my husband on a completely different level has been wonderful. God is good! We are still growing and journeying...but we are doing it together.
“We feel so supported at church as a young family. We have shared our faith more and in turn, have encouraged our friends to attend Blackhawk- and they are finding the same thing we did. I am so thankful.”
Imagine… Who else will come through our doors and experience God’s grace? Imagine… Whose faith in Christ will grow deeper as they serve or participate in Blackhawk’s ministries? Imagine when we have room to park, places to sit at the optimal hours, space for more children, places to connect.
