Blackhawk's Ministry Support Teams provide vital behind-the-scenes services to the church in many areas.

Hospitality Team

The Hospitality Core Team consists of 5-8 men or women. They promote fellowship and community by hosting and serving refreshments at church-wide events such as: seminars, congregational meetings, baptisms and baby dedications. The team also maintains the church's main kitchen.

Serving Team: Could you work in the kitchen or serve as wait-staff for an event? Are you able to commit about 2-4 hours to assist a Core Team member by setting-up/serving/cleaning up at an event? These are one-time obligations, but they fulfill a big need!

Baking/Chef Team: Do you love to bake or cook? Consider serving on the Baker/Chef team. The Hospitality Team contacts this important group of volunteers to provide refreshments for the church-wide events they host.

Finance Team

The Finance Team works with the DOS (Director of Organizational Support) to monitor and improve the church’s financial condition. The team meets with the DOS on a regular basis to discuss the financial statements, monitor expenditures in relation to congregational giving and in relation to budgeted expenditures, and make suggestions for improvements. The team also discusses the annual budget before the budget is put forth to the congregation. The Finance Team is not necessarily involved in the budget preparation or setting of priorities, but reviews the budget periodically during the preparation and at the completion. Finally, the Finance Team is available to assist the DOS with any special financial related projects (ex. Software selection, policy and procedures etc.) If you have skills or gifts in working with finances and are interested in being part of the Finance Team, please contact Amy Willson.

Facilities Support Volunteers

Set-up: Volunteers are needed to assist the Facilities Staff in setting up chairs and tables for special events as needed. Your muscles are all we need!

Special Projects: If you have a special skill or interest and would like to volunteer to use it around the church, we want to know about you! As projects come up, we'd love to give people in our own church body the opportunity to serve God in this way. These abilities might include: electrical, woodworking, general handyman, plumbing, groundskeeping, etc. We also have a Prairie Restoration Team which works to maintain the area surrounding the retention pond at the south end of the property.

Facilities volunteers serve on an on-call basis. We will email you, based on your willingness to serve in a given area. You will work with a staff person or project leader on a given project. Contact Scott Martin, Director of Facilities, for more information.

Human Resources Team

The Human Resources Team works with the DOS to provide support, guidance and research when requested in the various areas of Human Resource management. They are committed to creating an employment environment that honors people, has credibility and consistency, and is compliant with the law.
