LOCAL IMPACT PARTNERS

We believe in partnership. Blackhawk works alongside partners that are doing great work and have established presence in the community. Through these partnerships the efforts of both organizations are maximized and we join in a greater unified effort. Opportunities exist to engage in practical serving through Blackhawks partners. Click on one of the links below to find out more.

Habitat for Humanity

Blackhawk partners with Habitat for Humanity to build houses for families in the Madison community. There are several ways to be involved:

  • Volunteer for one of the Saturday work days we have throughout the year
  • Provide a lunch for a work day
  • Help raise money to pay for a portion of the current house’s construction costs
  • Mentor a new homeowner family
  • Pray for the family

If you are interested in volunteering or donating, or interested in leadership, please contact Jeremy Akins. For comprehensive information about Habitat, visit the Habitat for Humanity website.

Care Net Pregnancy
Center

Care Net Pregnancy Center serves women, men and families affected by unplanned pregnancies or sexual health concerns by offering free medical services, practical support and education. Care Net’s free and confidential services include a medical and counseling clinic, LifeWise: an abstinence counseling program, post abortion support, and family living in a residential maternity program.

Baby Bottles
In honor of mothers everywhere, we kicked off our annual Baby Bottle Fundraiser on Mother’s Day, May 13. Bottles are still available at either Blackhawk Brader Way or Downtown. Fill the bottle with bills, coins or a check (made out to Care Net) and bring it back on Father’s Day for our partner, Care Net Pregnancy Center. 5% of the proceeds will go to Blackhawk’s Mother and Child Resource Ministry.

The Road Home

The Road Home is a group of congregations joining together to provide temporary overnight lodging, meals and assistance for homeless families in the Madison area. Volunteers from the host or buddy churches donate, prepare and serve dinner and breakfast, then eat and talk with homeless families. Volunteers can also participate in activities with the kids for a few hours each evening or stay overnight with the families.

Training for volunteers is provided by The Road Home provides and is highly recommended. If you are interested in finding out more about this ministry, please contact Scott Lai or visit The Road Home website.

Homeless Shelter

The Men’s Homeless Shelter ministry team serves breakfast at Grace Episcopal Church (downtown) once a month. Team members purchase supplies (reimbursement is provided) and work at the shelter from about 4:45 am to 7:30 am, preparing, serving and cleaning up after the meal.

Other volunteer opportunities include making brown bag lunches for the men and driving a shuttle bus. If you are interested in being a part of this team, contact Greg Goetsch.
