Weekday Childcare Worker (paid or volunteer)
Hang out with newborns to preschoolers and help them feel comfortable while their moms are learning and connecting with each other in Titus group (first and third Thursday mornings of the month) or Encounter Bible Study (every Wednesday morning). Commitment is January through May, 8:40-11:15 am. You can serve on Wednesdays or Thursdays (or both).

Middle School Ministry — Male Leader
Middle School Ministry is in need of 6-7 more male leaders. Volunteers are Christ-following men and women (college-age and older) who love God and like hanging out with students. Each leader focuses on building community with 4-5 students in a particular grade. Every Wednesday, 6:45-8:45 pm, September through May.

Elementary Ministries Volunteer
Serve with a team to build relationships with kids and apply Bible lessons to their lives through crafts, games and other fun activities. Commitment: one service hour twice a month or one Sunday a month for all services.

Host
Hosts provide assistance and a warm, hospitable environment for those attending Sunday worship services. Serve 30 minutes before the service and 15 minutes after service begins, one or two Sundays per month.

Info Center Team
Respond to questions about the church and ministries; guide people to appropriate church material or direct them to specific areas; take messages for follow-up by Blackhawk staff. One or two Sundays per month during one service hour.

Set-Up Team
Prepare the room at the Majestic Theater so that people can connect with God with little distraction (includes light cleaning and set-up of chairs, table and stage). Arrive two hours prior to the first service, one or two Sundays a month.

Tear-Down Team
Help reset the room so the Majestic can easily use the space for their purposes (includes putting away tables, chairs and other staging items and light cleaning). Stay for one hour after the last service, one or two Sundays a month.

Stephen Minister
Do people seek you out when they need comfort? Consider training as a Stephen Minister. Upon acceptance and completion of the training requirements, you will meet with a care-receiver weekly for one hour to listen, encourage and show compassion. You’ll receive 50 hours of training, then ongoing education/supervision meetings twice a month. View application form and brochure.

Medical Response Team – Brader Way
Respond to medical needs in our building as they
arise on Sundays. Volunteers will be informed about
medical supplies, rescue equipment and protocol
involved in emergency situations in the church.
The Medical Response Team are trained and certified
medical professionals (nurses, doctors and EMTs)
familiar with the AED and rescue protocol. Serve
one or two Sundays a month, for one service.

Residential Visitation
Offer companionship and connection to the Blackhawk community for people recovering in rehab centers or unable to leave their homes. Visit with them twice a month for 30-90 minutes and keep a visitation log. Read the Adult Protection Policy and complete a Visitation application.

Care Support Team
Help provide care for someone in need, as part of a team. Attend a Care Support Team meeting and volunteer care and help suited to your giftedness and availability. Pray regularly for the team and the care receiver.

Funeral Luncheon Team
Encourage grieving families by helping prepare, serve and clean up after a funeral luncheon. Serve 2-4 hours the day of the funeral. Receive requests to serve by email, 2-4 days in advance, and respond as you are able.

Meals Team
Help someone in our Blackhawk Community regain strength after a hospital stay or new baby. Make and deliver a meal for a family. Your name will be added to an email list so that you are notified when a need arises. You can then respond as you are able and your schedule allows.

Adopt-a-College Student Program
Build relationships and mentor a younger generation. Welcome one or two students over for dinner, laundry, study, etc., and guide them spiritually within the multi-generational church. CAM Food Team
Receive and respond to emails requesting food; if available provide an assigned dish for a designated ministry event.

Illuminate Magazine – Volunteer Graphic Designer
Design one entire issue of Blackhawk’s quarterly magazine from concept to completion; work closely with the Communication Arts Team (CAT) and volunteer photographer. Must have access to computer and be fluent in Adobe InDesign. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop a plus!

The church building is full of activity all week long. When the facility is clean and roomsare set up, people can be ministered to without distraction. The Facility Teams are a vital part of reaching our community here at Blackhawk.
Want to help but not sure where to start?
Fill out a Facility Interest Questionnaire to indicate your facility maintenance experience (e.g., experience in carpentry, electrical work, floor maintenance, painting, etc.). You can even indicate the days and times you’d be willing to serve! When the questionnaire is complete, email it to Nathan at ndewey@blackhawkchurch.org.
Eastside Cleaners
Working as a team to accomplish a giant task — moving chairs (all 800!), sweeping, mopping (with the Zamboni) and dusting. Commitment: once a month for 3-4 hours, Monday or Tuesday evenings.

SWAT Team
(Sweeping, Washing, & Toliet Paper) Help prep the building for ministry and special events during the week. The main focus is on recovery from Sunday services and events. Mondays between 3 and 10 pm; commitment: 2-4 hours, work as your schedule allows.

Impact Ministries Office Help
Help the Impact Ministries staff by volunteering behind the scenes at the office at Brader Way (weekdays, flexible hours). Tasks include making copies, filing, organizing ministry files and supplies, prepping for church-wide events.

Help make the big church small and encourage spiritual growth in your group. Facilitate weekly discussion using a study guide with questions about the sermon. Encourage, pray, listen and serve the group. Group meets in a home (doesn’t have to be yours), 2-3 hours a week, September to May.

Life Group Connector – Brader Way or Downtown
Help people find and connect with the right Life Group. Assist at GroupLink (2-3 times per year). Follow-up (through phone and email) with individuals seeking a group. 2-4 hours per week around GroupLink dates.

Serving Inside the Walls of Blackhawk
Family Fusion clean-up help
Family Fusion is seeking a group of able-bodied folks to assist with all of their end-of-production tasks. This type of work allows for plenty of conversation and camaraderie with your group while you help minister to Blackhawk families. Dates and times: Feb 3, Mar 2, Apr 13, May 4, 7-8:15 pm (or help with hosting from 6 pm). Tasks: tear-down, packing up props, touch-up cleaning of the stage space and kitchen items. When a post-show event is held, groups could assist with prep, hosting and clean up. Contact Amanda Akins.

Hosts (4-6 volunteers needed)
Hosts provide assistance and a warm, hospitable environment for those attending Sunday worship services. They serve at the entrances and in the hallways to welcome everyone into Blackhawk’s community. Serve 30 minutes before and 15 minutes after the service begins, one Sunday a month. Free Food Revolution
Sundays, 3 pm, on the corner of State and Mifflin (near the Capitol Square)
Free Food Revolution is an opportunity to help the homeless in Downtown Madison with one meal each week. It is both about feeding the hungry and building community. Get to know some of the folks who make the streets their home — and greet them if you see them around town. Groups can just show up. If you want to bring food, pre-made food is best. Contact Fred Gluck for more information about Free Food Revolution and what is needed on a weekly basis.
Middleton Outreach Ministry Grocery Deliveries
Gather food and clothing items from the Middleton Outreach Distribution Center and deliver to families in need in the Middleton/West Madison area. Wednesdays, 7-9 pm. Contact: Cheri Farha at 608.826.3407
West Madison Senior Center Volunteer
Groups of 8-10 help set tables, greet seniors, pour coffee, serve food, socialize with seniors, clear tables and wash dishes. 2nd Saturday of every month, 4:30-7:30 pm.

Bucky, Brats & Basketball
Each year volunteers help The River Food Pantry raise a significant amount of money by working a concession stand at a Badger basketball game. If your group is interested in working a game, please email Tim or call him at 608.695.4296.
Ronald McDonald House
Provide home-cooked meals for families staying in the House (20-25 people). Your group can prepare the meal at the House in their large double kitchen, or you can prepare the meal in advance and simply deliver it.

Encouraging Families
Pool group resources to purchase gift cards to Woodman’s, Target, Wal-Mart, PDQ or Mobil. Bring the cards to Blackhawk Brader Way in an envelope designating them for the Care Ministry. The Care Team will see that the gift cards get to those who need them.This is something your group could do anytime!

Middleton Outreach Ministry Donation Kits
This is a good project for family groups. Provide a themed kit for Middleton Outreach Ministry. Ideas include a first aid kit, a senior’s kit, and a child’s birthday kit. To see ideas on what to include, click here. Your group could shop together or collect items individually and bring them to MOM anytime.

Middleton Outreach Ministry Clothing Closet
Sort and hang clothing donations for the more than 200 clients who “shop” there monthly. Monday-Thursday 10 am – 2 pm and Friday-Saturday 9 am – 12 pm. Other times can be arranged by contacting MOM.

Men’s Homeless Shelter
Provide food to those without homes. Volunteers purchase supplies (reimbursement is provided) and work at Grace Episcopal Church (downtown) preparing, serving and cleaning up after the meal. Once a month from 4:45-7:30 am. Other volunteer opportunities include making brown bag lunches for the men and driving a shuttle bus.

Donation Station – Clothing Delivery
Transport donated clothing from Blackhawk Brader Way to local organizations. Empty two clothing bins on a regular basis, usually several times per month. Weekdays, during business hours.

Emergency Response Team
Participate as you are able in response to local disasters. Be a part of a database of people who are notified of immediate or long-term needs. Mother and Child – Ministry of Sorts
Help mothers and children in need. Sort baby clothes for newborn gift boxes. After a 1.5 hour training, you can work whenever you want.

Help cover boxes and covers with precut baby wrapping paper to make donated gifts look and feel special for new moms and their infants.Commitment is flexible and materials are provided. Tasks can be done on-site or at home

Blackhawk Food Pantry Garden Volunteer
Assist with garden planting, harvesting and maintenance to provide fresh produce to those in need throughout Dane County. Blackhawk Food Pantry Gardens is on the northwest corner of Veritas and Mineral Point. Sunday 1-5 pm, Monday 6:30-8 pm and Thursday 6:30-8 pm, April-September, 2-3 hours each month.

Tech – Video Team
Help make sure the sermon at the 9 am service is recorded and available for the different venues and web cast. Work with another team member and either be a camera operator or DVD operator during the sermon. Training will be provided, no experience is necessary. Sunday morning at 8:15 am through the first service at Blackhawk Brader Way, serve about once a month.

Photographer
Take photos at Blackhawk events including Sundays, burn them to CDs and deliver to church for use in print media and the web. Use your own digital camera, or check out one at the church. Respond to email requests for photographers as your schedule allows. Try to take photos at least once a month.

Tape Duplication
Take the tape recorded by the sound engineer and make copies, stock the tapes area in the Resource Room and fill special requests for tapes. Volunteer on Sunday mornings at Blackhawk Brader Way after the 9 am service for about 30 minutes once a month.

Make new sermon CDs and sermon CD sets as needed, keep track of CD inventory, fill special requests for CDs. Very flexible, about once or twice per month, 1-2 hours depending on amount of work.

Web Duplication
Make the Sunday sermons accessible on the Blackhawk website to reach people all over the world. Work with the Video Team and Sound Team on Sundays to record and edit the sermon and post it to the Blackhawk website. Time requirements are moderate mostly on Sundays.

We are looking for a team of leaders and students who are interested in filming, editing and creating videos to be used in multiple formats in HS Minsitry (announcements, trip promotion, teaching, etc). Leaders do not have to be involved in HS ministry apart from the video team.

Invest in the life of a high school student in a one-on-one environment. Meet with the student 2-3 times per month; model a Christ-centered lifestyle.One year commitment.

Office Assistant
Lend a hand to the administration staff with various detailed projects that include copying, collating, data entry, and assembling. Commitment is flexible and you can volunteer as your schedule allows. You are put on an e-mail list and contacted as needs arise.

Bulletin Folding Team
Connect with other volunteers through fellowship and good conversation while folding bulletin covers (using the folding machine) and stuffing bulletins for Sunday services. Fridays at Brader Way, start at 1 pm, lasts about 1-2 hours.

Provide legal support and guidance in the areas of Contracts, Employment, Estate Planning, HR, Immigration/Visas, Insurance, Intellectual Property, Marriage and Family, Nonprofit, Risk Management, Taxation, Waivers/Releases and Workers Compensation. Video Production Team
Join a crew of volunteers working with the Video Production Assistant to help with different aspects of a video shoot. Must have experience. Commitment varies by needs, shifts are 2 to 6 hours.

Visuals Team
Put the song lyric presentation together for the Sunday service; display the lyrics and other media on screens.One or two Sundays a month, morning or evening or both.

Sunday Video Team
Operate the video camera and video recording system to record the sermon for distribution to the other venues and the web. Work with another team member. Training will be provided, no experience necessary. 8:15 am, Sunday morning at Brader Way. Serve both morning services, about once a month.

Parking Attendant
Be a Parking Hero! There are many ways to help including traffic direction, sign-holding, and providing a warm wave and welcome. Commitment is one shift per month, arrive 15 minutes early or stay 30 minutes after a service.

Coffee Teams
The coffee teams invite you to serve with them once a month helping with coffee set-up, brewing or clean-up at Brader Way. It’s an easy way to serve others and contribute to making Blackhawk a welcoming place. Commitment: Varies depending on volunteer opportunity

Usher
Aid in seat selection, bulletin distribution and support the staff in elements of the service. One Sunday a month for one service.

Host
Hosts provide assistance and help create a warm, hospitable environment for those attending Sunday worship services. Serve 30 minutes before the service and 15 minutes after service begins, one or two Sundays per month.

Info Center Team
Respond to questions about the church and ministries; guide people to appropriate church material or direct them to specific areas; take messages for follow-up by Blackhawk staff. One or two Sundays per month. Volunteer shifts vary from 40 to 90 minutes.

Medical Response Team
Respond to medical needs in our building as they
arise on Sundays. Volunteers will be informed about
medical supplies, rescue equipment and protocol
involved in emergency situations in the church.
The Medical Response Team are trained and certified
medical professionals (nurses, doctors and EMTs)
familiar with the AED and rescue protocol. Serve
one or two Sundays a month, for one service.

Children’s Ministries Welcome Center Attendant
Welcome and help families as they enter the Children’s Ministry area or help maintain the security of the Children’s Ministry area. Serve Sundays as you’re available for one service hour; one or more times a month.

Choir Member
Are you passionate about worship and singing? Come check out the Blackhawk Choir! Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings (beginning February 1). The choir sings four Sundays a year (for all service hours) with three to four Wednesday rehearsals per Sunday.

Communion Team (Brader Way only)
Help serve communion once a month on the set-up team, serving team or clean-up team. Commitment: One Sunday a month for one service hour.

Singers and instrumentalists play on a worship team approximately once a month. You will play at all services that Sunday in your assigned venue and attend Wednesday rehearsal prior to your Sunday commitment.
