Prayer Guidelines
A few things to keep in mind as you share prayer requests:
- Respect the privacy of others – Ask permission first before sharing a request on behalf of someone else.
- Maintain confidentiality – you don’t need to use names, God knows.
- Be careful when sharing personal information, God knows the details.
- Don’t vent. Matters between you and another person should stay that way.

More to the Story: On Hold for Spring 2021
Many of us experience trauma, anxiety, depression, and other difficulties throughout life. It is easy for these challenges to become the only story we tell ourselves and others, resulting in barriers to support, connection, and growth.
Building on WISE Wisconsin’s stigma reduction efforts, the More to the Story workshop expands our stories beyond hurtful beliefs (associated with difficulties) by considering Biblical truths and personal strengths to safely develop and disclose portions of our stories within a supportive community. Through reflection, learning, and dialogue, this workshop guides us to own the mental health continuum without shame and accept the choice to voice our challenging experiences intentionally and effectively. As our resilience grows, our mental health challenges no longer define us, and instead, we practice a loving response towards ourselves and others as we all care for our minds, hearts, and souls.
Each participant will receive a workbook ($10) to keep. If you are interested in learning more about this group and other available supports, please contact Care Response at careresponse2@blackhawkchurch.org.
*Pre-registration is required and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
One to One Care
One-to-one ministry by trained, caring, volunteers who have responded to Christ’s call to “carry each others’ burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” One to One Care provides someone who cares, supports, listens, shares, prays.
What is a One to One Caregiver?
One to One Caregiver is:
- Christ-follower who walks beside a hurting person
- caring Christian who really listens and supports
- volunteer who has received 50 hours of training in how to provide compassionate care.
One to One Caregiver is not:
- counselor, therapist, or mental health professional
- person who will solve all your problems
Why should I seek a One to One Caregiver?
Are you going through a difficult time and needing someone to care, listen and share God’s love with you, one-to-one and confidentially? Are you hurting due to loss of a spouse, retirement, loneliness, unemployment, despair, childbirth, hospitalization, grief, separation and divorce, terminal illness, being shut in, faith issues or other problems? If so, a One to One Caregiver could help.
How can I receive care from a One to One Caregiver?
Please contact a member of our Care Response Team for information. Complete a Care Ministries Contact Us form or call us at 608-828-4230.
I know someone who could use a One to One Caregiver. How do I handle it?
Go to the person in need and let them know about One to One Care. Pray with them about it.
